Comparing the abysmal record of the NDP to now...Part two

This is the second of a series of blog posts using economic facts to compare the NDP’s performance while in power in the 1990s to the past six years of the BC Liberal government.

When the NDP was in power, people left our province – it is that simple. There was no reason to stay, as NDP policies hampered investment and job creation. In 1998 alone, this included an exodus roughly equivalent to the current population of Fort St. John.

Since the Liberals took charge of the Province, British Columbia has attracted on average close to six times as many new residents each year from 2002-2007 as we did from 1995-2001.

Carol James and the NDP. Wrong party, Wrong leader, Wrong time.

  1. This change is in part due to their actions and polciies which have made it easier for employers to hire abroad for their needs locally.

  2. Any way to get a link to this? The numbers are a little difficult to see.

Otherwise great article - it's simple and reinforces just how bad the 90s were.

  3. Your missing something, oh right.

What were the overall migration stats from the 90s, not just inter-provincial?

  4. I think its pretty hilarious that Quimby supports the NDP and also shares the name of Mayor Quimby the inept mayor from The Simpsons. It's no wonder you want Carole James in power, must have a thing for terrible leaders.

  7. Google "Stats Canada", genius.

  8. Obviously the author is afraid to post a link to the source, which would lead one to believe that the stats are completely inaccurate.

The one that makes the claim is responsible for posting sources to back them up, genius.

  9. It’s nice to see that NDP supporters like Quimby are questioning statistics and their sources. These figures above are from Statistics Canada CANSIM tables #051-0017, and were originally published in Construction Monitor earlier this month. These tables must be purchased so a direct link is not available. We assume the same diligence in learning the source of supporting statistics will be applied to numbers put out by the NDP and their supporters as well.
